We’re just into August and it’s very much still summer (technically) – that doesn’t stop me from beginning to dream about pumpkin spice, cozy sweaters and fall weddings! Whether you are in the final stages of planning your wedding for this fall or starting to put together a plan for a 2020 fall wedding (we still have a few dates available for both) read on to find out some of our very favorite reasons to have an Outer Banks wedding in the fall!
Have you ever noticed how stunning the sunset can be in the fall? It’s not just your imagination, really it’s science! In the fall, the sun has to pass through more of the earth’s atmosphere before reaching our eyeballs resulting in truly vivid colors. The Outer Banks is KNOWN for it’s gorgeous waterfront sunrises and sunsets and if you and your guests are staying all week, you’ll be greeted by brilliant sun-ups in the morning over the Atlantic and just across the street you’ll be treated to a sky show over the sound each night. Don’t forget to check when daylight savings time ends (November 3 this year) so we can plan your outdoor photos accordingly.
Fall is fishing season on the Outer Banks – add in the local Shrimp and Oysters that are in season in the fall and you have the ingredients for a fresh local seafood feast! Ask your caterer if they source their seafood locally and you have the opportunity to provide guests with an unforgettable authentic Outer Banks meal!
The bounty of the fall harvest brings pumpkins, squashes, beautiful root vegetables and delicious apples. Fall wedding menus tend to be comforting, seasonal and savory. Need we say more?
Of course there is so much more to love about fall weddings but here on the Outer Banks it’s really our favorite time of year. Vacation rental homes are less expensive, the beaches are far less crowded, and the water is still warm. Contact us to save the date for YOUR fall wedding or just book a fall getaway for your engagement session, you won’t regret it!
