Leslie Erickson has been performing professionally for 20 years and playing violin for an incredible 34 years. She holds a master’s degree in violin performance and spent many years as orchestra director for Chesapeake Public Schools in Virginia. If having that kind of professional experience at your wedding isn’t enough reason to hire her, we can personally attest that she is super sweet and really a joy to work with!
Leslie started Club Violin in 2006 when she saw that there was a growing interest in weddings on the Outer Banks and a real need for high-quality, professional music. “I needed to provide for my growing family at the time and have a flexible schedule”, she adds.
The group now consists of 15 professional members skilled in playing violin, viola, cello, guitar, trumpet, flute, even vocals. Besides providing a beautiful soundtrack for weddings and cocktail parties the team also give private and group lessons.
Erickson loves sharing her gift of music with brides and their guests at Outer Banks weddings. She explains, “Every bride, every wedding, every story and every music choice is different. Every single time. It never gets old.”
While couples in recent years have been choosing more contemporary music, Leslie hopes that more will give classical a second thought, “There is so much beauty in classical music and it doesn’t have to be what, most often, people think: it’s not stuffy! It’s beautiful and tranquil and calming without getting in the way.” she says.
If your wedding calls for musical perfection, book Leslie or one of her colleagues as soon as you have your wedding date set; they limit the number of weddings they take each year to ensure absolutely professional service.
