Hello and Happy Weekend, everyone! We have gorgeous SUNSHINE here…And, that makes me SO happy!! Sunshine reminds me of summer weddings, family times, and beautiful FLOWERS!
I love, love, LOVE flowers…for gifts, decor, in the garden, a wild field…and, most certainly on a wedding day!!
Flowers at a wedding set the stage for the entire event. Along with your invitation suite, your flowers tell your guests a little about what to expect throughout your day; color, style, feel. They give softness or texture to the atmosphere.
There are so many amazing florists I have the opportunity to work with. And, I’m always a little jealous at their ability to create such beautiful pieces of art from all types of flowers and greenery. One of those amazing people is Nancy Harvey of Holiday House Weddings and Events. Having worked along side Nancy many, many times, I asked what trends she was seeing in 2018-2019 weddings and wanted to pass along her words. <3
Holiday House is seeing a trend in the use of flowers and arrangements in large form for ceremony and photography opportunities. The look that is trending is a mix of romance and rustic, combining driftwood with soft flowers. Other trends include color and the use of flowers to honor guests with flower rings, bracelets, crowns, and cuff brackets.
When asked for ONE piece of advice to pass along, Nancy answered: “Hire a local planner, they are the best for making decisions on weather and a back-up plan.” Loved ones shouldn’t have the weight of these types of decisions on their shoulders. In her experience, the florist ends up wearing the “planners” hat day-of the wedding if there is not a hired planner in place. Handling last-minute issues such as weather, linens, change in plans, etc is something best left to a professional.
I hope to chat with many other awesome wedding vendors, passing along their insight and love for creating amazing weddings and special memories.
Until Next Time, Happy Wedding Planning~
